So this is the last post of my East Coast Trip series! We ended the trip in Virginia, where my dad’s conference was being held. While he was at work we visited Williamsburg, Mount Vernon, and took a day to see some family living in Maryland. We were only there for a couple days but we jam packed it with sightseeing and lots of exploring!
In Maryland we got pulled over, but the amazing sunset made up for it!
The next day we went to Mount Vernon. I would not recommend eating at their cafeteria, but the property is fun to walk around and explore on.
There are a multitude of gardens and active farms on the land, we even got to pet the cattle grazing in the fields.
Above is a picture of Mount Vernon’s backyard, it’s huge!
The Next Day we walked through Williamsburg, which feels like you travel back through time! All of the workers are dressed up and in character. They all play different roles, which all together create an quaint early American town. You can eat at little restaurants there and shop in the old-fashioned stores. It gives you a taste of living in that time period.
The green arbor there was so pretty!
We ended our trip in Richmond Virginia with their famous pimento cheese dip at the ‘Secret Sandwich Society’.
The next morning, before we caught our first flight, we stopped by ‘Lamplighter Coffee‘. I had a mocha there, which was delightful and packed with flavor! Apparently it’s a really popular place in Richmond, VA and I can see why! I gave in and bought a mug, which I was collecting throughout the trip (I ended up with 5 mugs!).
So that pretty much wraps up my trip on the East Coast. It was a lot of fun exploring new places and trying new foods. I could visit every year and never grow tired of it!
